Cosplay question

Okay, I’m a newbie to cosplay, so I don’t know these things:

Do I need to use a wig? I mean, in this case, I’d be essentially buying a wig my exact same cut and color. However, the cosplay blogs I read strongly recommend using a wig. Is there a specific reason for this?

You don’t NEED a wig, but if your character has, say, blue hair then people prefer you to have a wig. I prefer myself to have a wig, so I can bring out the character better.
There isn’t really a specific reason for recommending a wig, but it helps for others to notice who you’re cosplaying and helps you look more like the character.
In example, I have a character with purple hair. Inga from Un-Go. I cannot go and dye my hair purple. So I bought a wig.

  8. sonamaeam said: If your hair looks the way the character has it (or can be styled accordingly) you don’t really need a wig, it’ll even be easier without it. They aren’t essential for same hair cosplays, some people just prefer them. It’s up to the cosplayer.
